Power - Online Actvity II.2.1


Power Problems   Include units when entering answers. Ex: for Watts use W or meters per second use m/s.

1. A 40 kg bail of hay was lifted vertically 1.2m to the back of a truck in 2s.
  1. How much work was done?   
  2. What was the rate at which the work was done?   
2. A 40 kg bail of hay was pushed up a ramp to the back of a truck which is 1.2 m high. It took the farmer 3.0s to complete this task.
  1. How much work was done?   
  2. What was the rate, in watts, at which the work was done?    
    In horsepower?   
3. How much power does a forklift develop doing 5400 J of work in 2.0 min?
    
4. How much power is developed by a 65 kg student running up a 4.0 m high flight of stairs in 2.4s?
    

5. A physics student who can generate 625 W runs up a flight of stairs in 5.5s. If the student has a mass of 59 kg, how high are the stairs?    

6. If an elevator has a mass of 1500 kg and its motor can produce 2500 W of power, at what constant speed will the elevator rise?
